CHANGES IN THE KKE: According to an announcement broadcast on the outlaw communists’ radio station on foreign territory, on December 30 the «fourth plenary» of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) met and discussed the following issues: 1) The course and future of the «patriotic movement in Greece,» with Central Committee secretary Vassilis Bartzotas as rapporteur. 2) The KKE’s action plan with party general secretary Nikos Zachariadis as rapporteur. 3) Organizational issues, with priority being given to the amendment of the KKE’s charter and the redistribution of its members. Also (…) Thymios Bratsos was removed from his post as associate member of the Central Committee and expelled from the party. The leadership of the KKE’s Central Committee directorate has been given to Apostolos Grozos. It was also announced that the Central Committee’s organizational bureau has been abolished, and a three-member party secretariat set up. All the above decisions are to be put before the KKE’s eighth party congress.
