Poor tactics

Over the last few weeks, members of the SYRIZA-Independent Greeks coalition government, as well as other deputies, have voiced just about every single possible threat in the context of Greece’s debt crisis.

Some of the threats concerned the possibility of a referendum, while others spoke of snap elections.

There was also talk of the Greek government not honoring some form of bailout payment to the country’s creditors.

This tactic would work just fine if it were part of a well-conceived plan to generate confusion on the other side.

Unfortunately, however, that is not the case.

The worse thing that can happen to anyone in the international arena is for them to give the impression that they don’t know exactly what they are after, or even worse, to voice threats that invariably turn out to be of the empty kind.
