Sabotaging investments

No major investment has moved forward in Greece since SYRIZA won the general elections in January. Several leftist officials, notably those who were removed from their posts in the recent government reshuffle, did all they could to stop investments that were under way.

Given the current mix of a highly reluctant state, a skeptical judiciary and the prevailing uncertainty, there is no reason why a foreign investor would want to pour money into Greece.

The government must take steps to convince investors that it is genuinely interested in changing the economic climate.

This can be done by pushing investments that have already received the green light from the Council of State and other competent authorities.

It is high time that we put an end to this foolish resistance from reactionary government officials who are consciously sabotaging major investments.
