Nothing left to give

Any government official who is even entertaining the possibility of imposing more taxes beyond those that have already been voted through Parliament as part of the country’s third anti-bailout agreement with its international creditors is obviously completely out of touch with reality or utterly delusional.

They should know that whatever cushion some Greeks had managed to put aside so they could keep up with their payments has long been spent and there is simply nothing left to spare in the bank accounts of the majority of the population.

Thanks to the political shenanigans of the coalition government over the past eight months, taxpayers are now being called on to pay huge amounts in income tax as well as ludicrous property taxes that have absolutely no correlation to the real market value of their real estate assets.

Surely the government must understand that Greeks are being bled dry and that unless it is careful, the day will come when they have simply nothing left to give.
