Ministerial caution

Greek cabinet ministers tend to become blinded by the limelight that comes with media publicity and end up uttering pure nonsense.

This is not solely the case of ministers from the current coalition SYRIZA-Independent Greeks administration, but rather it is a phenomenon that has reappeared on a frequent basis in the country’s recent history.

In their efforts to make an impression, Greek ministers take to making the kind of statements that leave them exposed to a greater or lesser degree.

Of course the damage done by these ministers is considerable because their comments not only reflect negatively on them themselves, but also their government as a whole, not to mention politics in general, which ends up being discredited in the eyes of public opinion.

Being a little bit cautious never hurt anyone.
