DECEMBRIST BUTCHERS: (From a commentary in Kathimerini) – The policy of forgiveness, referred to in this week’s memorandum by the United Democratic Left (EDA) to the prime minister, is being implemented to the extent that it should and with as much caution as is necessary. Field Marshal Papagos had never promised to open the prisons and allow the Decembrist butchers out to embark on new battles against the people. He promised to open the doors of the national family to those who sincerely repented of the crimes they had committed against the nation, inspired by the teachings of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE).
