EASTER MESSAGE: Archbishop Spyridon of Athens has sent the following Easter message to the people of Greece: «(…) I address myself to those in prison and I hope that they will soon repent and earn the forgiveness of the State, so that they may be restored to our midst as healthy and productive members of society. This I also wish for those who are exiled outside Greece, that the love of the Risen Savior bring them back into the national family (…). DECEMBRIST BUTCHERS: (From a commentary in Kathimerini) – The policy of forgiveness, referred to in this week’s memorandum by the United Democratic Left (EDA) to the prime minister, is being implemented to the extent that it should and with as much caution as is necessary. Field Marshal Papagos had never promised to open the prisons and allow the Decembrist butchers out to embark on new battles against the people. He promised to open the doors of the national family to those who sincerely repented of the crimes they had committed against the nation, inspired by the teachings of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE).
