KARAMANLIS PROJECTS: Public Works Minister Mr Constantine Karamanlis has signed a decision announcing a competition for the best design for landscaping the area around the Acropolis between the Sacred Rock itself, the Herod Atticus Theater, Philopappou Hill and the Observatory. The purpose of the competition is to find the best way to highlight the area’s many features of archaeological and tourist interest. The competition is restricted to Greek architects. GREECE-JAPAN: It has been announced that the Cabinet has decided to reopen the Greek Embassy in Tokyo and to enable this step, it will soon table the relevant legislative amendment in Parliament. The Greek ambassador in Tokyo will be Mr Kindynis. MONDIAL: Soccer matches for the ongoing World Cup tournament continued today in various towns in Switzerland. Uruguay beat Scotland 7-0 in Basle, Austria defeated Czechoslovakia 5-0 in Zurich, and France beat Mexico 3-2 in Geneva. The game between Brazil and Yugoslavia, which was played in Lausanne, ended in a 1-1 draw.
