PAPAGOS’S RETURN: Prime Minister Field Marshal Alexandros Papagos returned by air from Switzerland shortly after midnight Saturday (Sunday morning), and was welcomed at the airport by cabinet members, many parliamentary deputies, senior officials, civil servants and a large crowd of people. (…) Yesterday morning, Field Marshal Papagos went to his political bureau and chaired a meeting of the coordination council. The deputy prime ministers, Mr Panayiotis Kanellopoulos and Mr Stephanos Stephanopoulos, respectively briefed him on developments on the domestic front during his absence, as well as on foreign affairs. Minister for Coordination Mr Panayiotis Papaligouras also briefed him on economic issues. RUMORS: It has been announced that the person arrested early Saturday morning for spreading a false rumor that the prime minister had died has been set free after it was proved that he had heard the report from various sources. KARAMANLIS: Thessaloniki, 28 – Minister for Transport and Public Works Mr Constantine Karamanlis said that 1.8 million drachmas is to be allocated for the reconstruction of Tsimiski Avenue.
