MAKARIOS: Yesterday afternoon Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr Stephanos Stephanopoulos received Ethnarch and Archbishop of Cyprus Makarios, who bore a message from the Cypriot people appealing to Greece to lodge its representation on the Cyprus issue as soon as possible with the United Nations. The minister also received the Turkish ambassador. LENNOX-BOYD: British Secretary of State for the Colonies Alan Lennox-Boyd has arrived in Athens. EOKA STRUGGLE: Nicosia, 12 – Proclamations bearing the signature of the EOKA organization were distributed today, warning the police that «anyone opposing our movement will be executed and those police officers investigating the patriot members of our organization will be shot.» The proclamations, spread mainly around the main roads of Famagusta, also said «this is the last warning to the police of Cyprus.» GIORGOS ROUBANIS: It has been announced that the high jump champion Giorgos Roubanis is to go to the United States to further his studies. (Ed. note: The following year Roubanis came third in the Melbourne Olympics).
