KARAMANLIS ON THE MOVE: 8 – Minister for Transport and Public Works Mr Constantine Karamanlis and the deputy minister, Mr Constantine Papaconstantinou, leave this evening for the island of Crete where they will concern themselves with various issues within their jurisdiction. They will visit Aghios Nikolaos, Irakleion, Rethymnon and Hania. MAKARIOS: 12 – Yesterday afternoon Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr Stefanos Stephanopoulos received the Ethnarch and Archbishop of Cyprus Makarios, who carried a message from the Cypriot people appealing to Greece to lodge its representation on the Cyprus issue as soon as possible with the UN. Mr Stephanopoulos also received the Turkish ambassador. LENNOX-BOYD: British Secretary of State for the Colonies Alan Lennox-Boyd has arrived in Athens. GIORGOS ROUBANIS: The Greek high jump champion Giorgos Roubanis is set to go to the United States this year to further his studies. (Ed. note: The following year Roubanis took the bronze medal at the Melbourne Olympics).
