KARAMANLIS AND FARMERS: The goverment arrived an important decision yesterday concerning the country’s farmers. The prime minister, Mr Constantine Karamanlis, has extended social security benefits to fully cover medical, pharmaceutical and hospital expenses for farmers at no extra cost. He increased credits for irrigation projects by 150 million drachmas and mid-term loans by about 50 million. The first special cotton repacking plant is to be installed in Thessaloniki at a cost off 200,000 dollars and new cotton gins established in Epirus, Thessaly and Thrace. Meanwhile, farmers are to be compensated for animals lost and fertilizers for grain crops are to be subsidized. COMMUNISTS RELEASED: The justice minister, Mr Constantine Adamopoulos, signed decisions yesterday related to the law on «peace measures,» which, following the recommendation of the relevant committees, provide for the release of 25 convicts. PROTECTION ABROAD: The Naval General Staff has announced that it has taken all steps to protect legal fishing outside Turkish territorial waters. SUITS RETURNED: Due to the crisis, suits may be returned for 120 drachmas and coats for 120 drachmas.
