Be wary of trade deals with China
Greeks should not be too exuberant about trade deals with China. They enter markets the same way the Japanese enter markets. That is with the idea of total domination of the market. The Chinese workers do not get the month of August off, nor a week at Easter, or Christmas. They work 10-12 hours a day, with very little in the way of benefits, and at a very low salary. Against this competition, the Greek worker is doomed. If you think I exaggerate, go to Glyfada on a Sunday. There is an area along the waterfront long taken over by «street vendors» – you will find that the Chinese got there at 8 a.m. and took every space. If you are ready to welcome the Chinese into your markets, you had better be ready to lose everything. LES GROVE, Athens.
