KARAMANLIS FOUNDS ERE PARTY: 4 – The prime minister, Mr Constantine Karamanlis, while announcing the foundation of his new political party, the National Radical Union (ERE), yesterday evening, made the following announcement: «(…) The main cause of our people’s misfortunes is the inadequate organization and functioning of our public life.» TIME MAGAZINE ON CYPRUS: 7 – For the first time, an article on the Cyprus conflict, presented in a light that is favorable to the honest struggle of the enslaved Greeks, has been published in the American magazine Time. Significantly, it said that the State Department believes that the British should make concessions on the Cyprus issue, recognizing the people’s right to self-determination. TOWARD ELECTIONS: 10 – King Paul of the Hellenes yesterday approved a recommendation from Prime Minister Constantine Karamanlis to dissolve Parliament today and proclaim parliamentary elections to take place on February 19. The elections will be held by the current government. This morning the prime minister will go to the palace for the signing of the order to dissolve Parliament.
