SOPHOCLES VENIZELOS: The joint leader of the «New EAM» (wartime National Liberation Front), Mr Sophocles Venizelos, yesterday tried to deny the existence of a secret protocol between the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and the parties of the «Democratic Center.» In a statement, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Union, Mr Venizelos, said: «The unbridled government press, using every means at its disposal to slander the ‘Democratic Center’ (headed by Mr George Papandreou) persists in claiming that there is a secret protocol between the ‘Democratic Center’ and the Left. I responsibly and categorically assure the Greek people that there is no such protocol other than that which was released in its complete form, nor any other kind of secret agreement, nor will there be.» KOUKOULOU ACQUITTED: Thessaloniki, 25 – Roula Koukoulou, wife of the head of the Greek Communist Party (KKE) Nikos Zachariadis, has been acquitted by a criminal court.
