KARAMANLIS’S RENEWAL: The election tickets of the new party under Constantine Karamanlis, the National Radical Union (ERE), have made an excellent impression on nationally minded public opinion. The ERE ticket includes 146 deputies from the dissolved Parliament. (Editor’s note: The Greek Rally Party, which ERE succeeded, had more than 250 deputies out of the 300 in the previous Parliament.) They include personalities who have been successful in the management of certain areas of government activity, or who have made a mark with their qualifications, training and ethics in Parliament’s committees and plenum. The remaining 154 candidates on the ERE ticket include many recruits from other parties, but these are all persons morally and nationally irreproachable, who have never been accused of suspect relations with communism or sympathizing views. JULES DASSIN: The Cinema Club will show today, at its usual Sunday performance at the Asty theater at 11 a.m., Jules Dassin’s film «Night and the City.» This is the American director’s last film before he was blacklisted by Senator Joseph McCarthy’s Committee on Un-American Activities (1950).
