DE BELLO CIVILE: During a debate in the Italian Parliament over the ratification of the protocol allowing Greece and Turkey to join NATO, the Italian Prime Minister Alcide De Gasperi, who had worked hard to have the bill passed, replied to accusations by communist deputies that Greece is «monarcho-fascist.» However, we do not believe he used strong enough terms to refute the Red deputies’ claims. «The civil war was such a tragedy that it is possible that both sides committed acts for which they would have been prosecuted under normal circumstances,» he said. We do not think that the prime minister of an allied country… by the vagueness of his statements should have intimated that the legal government would commit excesses. MILK AND OIL: The distribution of evaporated milk for children for the month of December will begin the day after tomorrow. Children aged up to two years will receive 15 cans of milk each for 39,000 drachmas (for those with means) and 21,000 (for those without means). As of February 25th, 200 drams (640 grams) of olive oil will be distributed to residents of the capital in exchange for coupon No. 15 and 6,800 drachmas per ration.
