NEW KARAMANLIS GOVERNMENT: 1 – The new government of Mr Constantine Karamanlis (head of the National Radical Union [ERE]) was sworn in yesterday (February 29) afternoon. The ceremony was held in the presence of King Pavlos and Archbishop Spyridon of Athens. The new government was formed after the elections of February 19, 1956. ATHENS CONCERT HALL: During the latest meeting of the Friends of Music Society, it was announced that the state, in recognition of the society’s cultural mission, has granted it 14,610 square meters of land on Vassilissis Sofias Avenue for the construction of a concert hall in accordance with Cabinet ruling No. 119, published in the 64th edition of the Government Gazette, Volume I, dated February 17, 1956. The site is being granted to the society gratis due to the beneficial nature of the project for the public. (…) During the general assembly, the members of the society expressed their limitless gratitude to his excellency the prime minister, Mr Constantine Karamanlis, and the public works minister, Mr Lambros Evtaxias, who is also the president of the society.
