ZACHARIADIS DEPOSED: Last night Radio Bucharest announced that in the Cominform bulletin released yesterday it was reported that, following a harsh attack on the party leadership, the sixth plenary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) removed Nikos Zachariadis from the post of KKE general secretary and ruled out his participation in the party’s Political Bureau. The plenary also blamed Fanis Barzotas for acts committed by the KKE leadership and also removed him from his post in the party and temporarily removed him from the Political Bureau. Finally, it was announced that the plenary session elected a new seven-member Central Committee and established the principle of collective leadership in the party. US PRESIDENT EISENHOWER: Paris, 14 – US President Dwight Eisenhower said today the USA was ready to take all logical and practical measures to help Greece and Great Britain resolve their dispute. EXILE ILLEGAL: Thessaloniki, 30 – The Thessaloniki Bar Association has decided to send a written letter to the government outlining the unconstitutional nature of the law that permits the exiling of wrongdoers.
