Political agendas of self-interest

It would be useful for democracy in this country if opposition PASOK leader George Papandreou would attempt to unite his cadres upon the solid foundation of a bold reformist political agenda. Unfortunately, instead of doing this, the opposition leader has sought a counterfeit version of this mobilization and has instead resorted to provoking a cockfight in Parliament. What is clear is that the entire developed world is moving ahead while Greece remains paralyzed in a spiral of decline. This country’s many major problems demand the immediate rallying of forces in the political sector, otherwise they are unlikely to be effectively tackled. It is extremely sad that our political parties are actually moving in the opposite direction to that needed by the current crisis and that they are using as their criterion their own ephemeral interests, and not the interests of the country as a whole.
