MARIA CALLAS AND MACARONI: Rome, 21 – A judge in the Italian capital issued a ruling today in favor of the famous Greek soprano Maria Menegini Callas in her dispute with Pantanella, the Italian spaghetti firm. Callas had sued the company, claiming that it had caused harm to her image and reputation as an artist because in one of its advertisements it had said that Callas had lost 22 kilos by eating the firm’s products. The court ruled that the advertisement was not based on fact and was therefore illegal and ruled in favor of Callas. However, it did not set any amount of compensation, which will be determined at another hearing. The pasta firm was ordered to pay court costs. FAULKNER IN GREECE: At a press conference held yesterday afternoon at the initiative of the American Information Service, representatives of the Greek press had the opportunity to meet the famous American writer William Faulkner (the 1949 Nobel Prize-winner), who is visiting Greece for the staging of the play adapted from his novel «Requiem for a Nun» at the Kotopouli Theater.
