WINTRY EASTER: This year, due to the cold, Athenians wore their winter coats to the Resurrection service on Holy Saturday night. None of the restaurants outside the city or along the coast opened because of the inclement weather. SUPPER AT THE PALACE: Their Majesties King Paul and Queen Frederika hosted a supper at the palace after the midnight service. Guests included the heir to the throne Prince Constantine, princesses Sofia and Irene, the king and queen of Romania and the Queen Mother Eleni, the Duchess of Aosta and Princesses Alexandra and Elisabeth, as well as several senior court officials and military officers. FERENC PUSKAS: Greek fans yesterday had the chance to see Hungarian soccer star Ferenc Puskas and his fellow players in the national team. At yesterday’s match, Hungary beat Ethniko Piraeus 7-0 (HT 3-0) before 18,000 fans. MUNICH’S ALTE PINAKOTHEK: Munich, 20 – Next June the famous Alte Pinakothek of Munich is to reopen its doors. Built during the first half of the past century, it had been severely damaged by bombing during WWII. Fortunately, the approximately 5,000 valuable paintings in the collection of the Wittelsbach dynasty were unharmed, as they had been stored safely.
