Easing the traffic in the city

The road network expanding throughout the Attica basin has been subject to extensive alterations over the previous years. It would be no exaggeration to say that these changes have affected people’s daily lives. However, the truth is that most streets in and around the capital remain jam-packed with cars. The recent proposal to turn busy Patission and Acharnon avenues into one-way streets should be welcomed. The proposed change demonstrates that a mixture of imagination and careful study can improve our everyday lives. If a government leader possessed the political courage to purge the streets and sidewalks of illegally parked cars and to ban deliveries to stores at peak hours, the city would get a fresh lease on life. Measures such as these are absolutely necessary to improving living conditions in the city.
