AIR FORCE CASE: The results of the peace measures are now evident. A far-reaching communist plot has been uncovered in the air force, and 18 officers arrested, including two flight lieutenants. Officer Nikolaos Akrivoyiannis, who escaped in an aircraft, was declared an outlaw, certified as such by the authorities in Volos. The outlaws admitted that it was they who had instigated the IDEA mutiny last year in order to achieve a full reduction in national security measures. The Plastiras government is, nevertheless, persisting with its «red peace plan.» It appears that its left-wing members feel they are able to tolerate crime. FALLEN FOR THE COMMONWEALTH: At 11.40 p.m. last night Lord and Lady Halifax arrived by air in Greece to represent the British government and its premier, Winston Churchill, at the unveiling of the monument to war victims donated by the British Commonwealth (…) Lord Halifax made the following statement: «This is the first time I have set foot on Greek soil. For many years I have been waiting for the opportunity to visit Greece, the cradle of our common civilization.»
