According to the emergency measures in force on the island, transporting arms is a capital offence. In other news, British troops circled the village of Frenaros south of Famagusta this morning and imposed a curfew after a mysterious bomb explosion that occured there last night. All the male inhabitants of the village were taken to a sectioned-off area and interrogated in turn by the military regarding the explosion. The interrogations went on for seven hours and eventually all those remanded were allowed to leave. Recently in the area there have been a string of attacks by masked men against left-wing unionists. The authorities believe that the explosion was the work of the National Organization of Cypriot Fighters (EOKA).
