VITTORIO DE SICA: New York, 19 – the Italian film director Vittoria de Sica believes that sex appeal is the greatest factor in creating a queen of the screen, but criticizes the commercial manner in which the female sex is presented in America. MAVROS DENIAL: The national defense undersecretary, Mr Giorgios Mavros, whose attention was drawn to yesterday’s report in Kathimerini on an extremely dangerous intensification of communist activity in army units, where a secret Communist Party of Greece organization was helping soldiers flee to enemy nations, has made the following statement: «The communist attempt to infiltrate the armed forces has long been a a tactic used by the Communist Party. In order to confront these efforts, the authorities will be taking further measures. (…) I am in a position to confirm categorically that there is absolutely no cause for concern. The country’s armed forces, with their absolute solidarity and high morale, are a guarantee that any attempt to infiltrate their ranks is destined to fail.»
