Religious tensions in a secular Europe

Regarding your article about religions («Second Coming,» November 24), please consider that those nations/groups that are religious seem to produce more offspring, usually because they are proud and confident in their beliefs and want to spread their way of life by multiplying. And now you’re probably thinking, «Well, so what?» Well, the problem is that Muslims have the fastest-growing birthrates and they live under sharia, often disregarding the law of whatever land they are in. Islam is the fastest-growing religion on Earth. Particularly in Europe, where thanks to liberal immigration and social welfare policies the Muslim population is growing in leaps and bounds, as is the number of people living under sharia in their Muslim ghettos. The only problem is that all host countries in the Western liberal world, especially in Europe, have the lowest birthrates in the world. The result is that more and more people will be living under sharia in the Western world as the Muslim populations increase and the native populations decrease (see the demographics of Malmo, Sweden). Europe indeed stands a good chance of becoming Islamified within the next few decades. Then what will happen to these free-thinking liberals, like myself? Also, you mentioned [Salman] Rushdie and Hirsi Ali: two brave individuals who in choosing to utilize their freedom have been handed death sentences. What has the liberal Netherlands done to instruct the Muslims living there that they cannot issue death threats against someone who simply used their right to free expression? In fact, there was talk about stripping Hirsi Ali of her citizenship, for being insensitive! [Theo] Van Gogh found out the hard way and Hirsi Ali, after being shunned by her own «free thinking» countrymen, went to the USA, the only country that could actually protect her because most European countries are afraid of inciting their Muslim populations. If we are to continue living freely, then many of us who can’t stand each other (Americans, Europeans, gays, Christians, liberals, conservatives, atheists and, heaven forbid, the European Jews) must unite in an attempt to preserve our free society from the encroaching wave of the sharia.
