YVES SAINT LAURENT DEBUT: Paris, 31 – The Paris press today is full of reports about the amazing success of the young heir to the late designer Christian Dior, 21-year-old Yves Saint Laurent, who had his first fashion show last night. The new Trapeze Line he launched at his first showing was greeted with enthusiasm. The total value of the orders placed by French and foreign customers was well over 90 million francs, easily covering the cost of last night’s showing. Fashion commentators are calling the shy, slightly built designer a «miracle,» as well as a worthy heir to Dior, whose fashion house employs 1,500 workers at 28 ateliers. Some 300 French and foreign fashion writers from the world’s major newspapers and magazines were there to applaud the man who is being called the Mozart of haute couture. The main characteristics of the simple and elegant Trapeze Line are the broad shoulders and a wide skirt. EIKONES MAGAZINE: In the latest issue, actress Vasso Manolidou talks about moments in her career. Also included is a visit to the studio of artist Panayiotis Tetsis and, as every week, Achilleas Mamakis comments on theater life.
