VOTES FOR WOMEN: During yesterday’s session of Parliament, the interior minister, Mr Rendis, in an address to the House on a bill giving women the right to vote and to stand for election in parliamentary elections, said that Parliament was unanimous on this subject. However, he asked for an extension to the deadline for women to register in the electoral rolls. (…) Finally, the bill on giving women the right to vote in parliamentary elections (Ed. note: They already had the right to vote in local elections) was passed unanimously and the session was adjourned. EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT: Strasbourg, 28 – Mr Constantine Tsaldaris addressed today’s session of the European advisory assembly, and spoke in favor of a proposal by Anthony Eden to link the European council with the European Coal and Steel Community and the European army. Mr Leon Makkas, also spoke and (…) referred to Greece’s demand to be united with Cyprus. KOA: Tomorrow morning at 10 a.m., the Athens State Orchestra (KOA) will give its last concert at the Orpheus Theater under the direction of the famous conductor Clement Kraus. (…) The program includes the following works: Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony, Richard Strauss’s «Don Juan» and the overture to Wagner’s «Tannhauser.» Ticket cost 30,000, 20,000 and 10,000 drachmas.
