Truth on Vatopedi must out

For the past couple of weeks, the country’s entire political world has been wholly focused on preliminary investigations and special committees regarding the Vatopedi property-swap scandal. There has been continual shadowboxing around the procedures involved in an issue that effectively boils down to a simple investigation of actions or omissions of certain government ministers in the affair. Something that is self-evident for the majority of Greek citizens has been turned into the subject of political recriminations. As a result, the people have lost any hope they may have had that the truth about this messy affair might eventually come to light. Irrespective of the voting results or abstentions, all Greeks have eyes and ears, and they know how to draw their own conclusions. The people expect to see evidence from the country’s politicians to clear up the issue so that the truth really does come out this time, and any blame is attributed to the right people, no matter what procedure is eventually decided upon.
