KARAMANLIS ON AGREEMENT: Prime Minister Constantine Karamanlis, commenting on the Cyprus agreement signed just two days ago in London, said upon his return to Athens that he welcomed independence for Cyprus, something that it would enjoy for the first time in its 3,000-year history. «Celebrations on Cyprus, the messages received from many friendly governments and the satisfaction of the international public have been evident in the news from around the world and confirm that a very important job has been completed. I am personally happy because my government made a decisive contribution to that end and I send warm greetings to all those who have struggled for freedom in Cyprus.» FAVORABLE CLIMATE: Limassol, 21 – The arrival yesterday of Bishop Anthimos and the statements he made have somewhat alleviated the heavy atmosphere of absolute reservation and silence with which the London agreement was initially received. In Limassol, the climate was clearly more favorable toward the solution that has been arrived at and already there is much debate as how to best deal with the situation.
