VALUABLE SERVICE: The Cabinet has authorized acting Prime Minister Sophocles Venizelos to express to the king and queen the nation’s gratitude for the valuable service they did the country during their recent official visit to Turkey, as their presence there contributed to the promotion of relations between the two allied nations. ALLIED RELATIONS: It has been confirmed that the government is being subjected to pressure from the United States of America, Great Britain and France. They want Greece to raise the Cyprus issue once again before the United Nations. CONTACT WITH MISERY: Larissa (From our correspondent T. Papayiannopoulos) – Field Marshal Alexandros Papagos, after his arrival here at 9.30 p.m. yesterday, asked me to emphasize the misery of the unfortunate farmers he met on his way here from Athens. It has only furthered his desire to directly meet with the people more frequently. IASON DEPOUNTIS: New books: «The Hill,» poems by Iason Depountis Iliostasio Publications, Corfu, 1952.
