Purging the system of corruption

The country’s political system has finally come to the realization that it must purge itself of the insidious and deeply ingrained graft and corruption that exists both within and around it. And it was about time, as corruption and political kickbacks have taken a huge toll on Greece’s body politic. However, it is extremely crucial that there be no attempt made to provide cover for any political cadres who are currently active in party mechanisms. Moreover, it is also extremely vital that everybody – and that includes politicians, as well as the mass media – respect the rule of law and, most importantly, the presumption of innocence. In the case that this does not occur, the fight against corruption will degenerate into an unchecked and irrational feeding frenzy and cannibalism which will inevitably end up destroying any sense of fairness and protection provided by the country’s democratic institutions. At such a time, it is of utmost importance that all retain a keen sense of realism and cool-headedness and allow the justice system to do its duty.
