Leave the kids out of this

It has become something of a fashion over the past few years, for students to take over and occupy their schools or universities and bring these institutions to a standstill for a variety of reasons, some of which have merit and many of which have none. In fact, the craze has so caught on to such an extent that today it is not unusual to see sit-ins being staged at elementary schools across the country. Enough is enough. We can no longer allow youngsters to be the subjects of manipulation by political parties or union groups representing teachers and professors. Greece has plenty of forums where adults can voice their dissatisfaction and lodge protests. We need to leave the children out of the power games of party and union politics and let them get on with what they’re suppose to be doing, which is learning. We should also allow their parents to be the ones who instill whatever political or social values they see fit rather than allowing this country’s children to fall into the hands of those who have their own agendas.
