THE FIRST GREEN FLAG: Patras, 14 – Farmers in the prefecture of Achaia took part in a huge rally yesterday morning in Aghios Andreas Park to protest against their complete abandonment by the State. (…) Addressing the crowd, the president of the Patras Union of Farmers’ Cooperatives Mr N. Kalapodis said that the demonstrators were «raising a new banner – the green flag of a peaceful revolution.» MEETING OF FARMERS: Farmers also held mass rallies in Pirgos, Kalamata, Corinth, Thessaloniki and Ioannina and at all branches of the Union of Farmers’ Cooperatives of Thessaly in Halkida, Agrinio, Lamia, Thebes, Livadia, Mantoudi, Lianokladi, Anthili, Skala in Laconia, Arta, Preveza, Katerini, Veria, Moudania, Drama, Nevrokopi, Liastrati, Yiannitsa, Provata, Irakleia, Serres, Kavala, Xanthi and elsewhere.TELEPHONY: A special committee set up to reorganize the country’s telephone network has proposed the drafting of a five-year plan to reconnect all community telephone booths which were functioning in 1940 and to construct 411 more in the 1952-1953 financial year. Moreover, automatic telephone exchanges will soon be operating in Karditsa and Trikala and later in Corfu, Kozani and Veria. AEK-OLYMPIAKOS 3-2: Yesterday evening a crowd of thousands at the Panathinaikos Stadium watched the first match for the September cup between AEK Athens and Olympiakos Piraeus. AEK won 3-2.
