Funds released for spay, neutering drive by municipalities

Municipal authorities will be getting a boost of 5 million euros to help them contain their stray cat and dog populations.

Named Argos, the spay and neuter program is part of a law on pet protection passed by Parliament in late 2021.

It foresees a total funding package of 40 million euros, the bulk of which is aimed at building, improving and maintaining municipal dog and cat shelters.
