Greek universities are planning to introduce more than 200 English-taught programs in a bid to attract foreign students.
More specifically, 18 undergraduate, 140 postgraduate and 50 PhD university programs have so far been submitted for approval to the Education Ministry, which has sought to cultivate a more extrovert profile under the conservative administration. These will begin at the start of the new academic year in October or the following year.
Twenty-four of the programs are to be taught jointly with foreign universities. Institutions here will partner with counterparts in the US, China and India.
New ministry rules, which will soon be submitted for public consultation, will allow for online teaching, thereby also attracting academics based outside Greece.
Greece could benefit from the post-Brexit rise in fees for European students.
