Campion School

For over forty years Campion School has been well established as one of the leading international schools in Athens. With just over 500 pupils, the school strives to provide a safe, family environment in which children can perform to their full potential in green, secure surroundings. We offer 18 subjects at IGCSE level and the International Baccalaureate programme in Years 12 and 13. Campion’s academic programmes are enriched with a wide range of extracurricular sporting, dramatic and musical activities. Campion School is situated in the easily reachable northeastern suburb of Pallini, five minutes from the Pallini exit of the Attiki Odos highway, in the same vicinity as several Greek-language private schools, including the Greek-German School, Costeas Geitonas and the Athens College Junior Schools in Kanza. Campion’s purpose-built facilities opened in September 2000. In 2012 Campion inaugurated a new sporting facility with a state-of-the art soccer pitch, running track and changing pavilion. Campion is an accredited member of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) and the headmaster is a longstanding overseas member of HMC.

What academic programmes does the school offer?

Campion is an English language IB Diploma school that offers IGCSE for Years 10 and 11 and prepares students for university studies in the UK or US.

How large are the classes at Campion School?

Each class is no larger than 20 pupils, which allows for a high degree of personal attention and a strong sense of community.

Are the teachers supportive?

The teaching staff at Campion offers a great deal of support to the school’s pupils. Teachers are available at lunchtimes and during free periods to answer additional questions or even work one-on-one with a pupil in the library. In the rare event that this is not sufficient and the pupil requires additional tutoring, teachers at Campion will work with the tutor to be sure that tutoring is as effective as possible. Generally speaking, the school’s policy is not to encourage private tutoring and Campion teachers only offer private tutoring to a pupil after receiving approval from the headmaster.

What are the facilities like?

Campion has a wonderful physical plant. In addition to the brand-new George David Sports Centre, the school offers modern science labs, SMART boards, wi-fi and air conditioning. Campion’s facilities are impressive; the physical plant is full of light and air.

Where is Campion School located?

The school is just off the Pallini exit of the Attiki Odos highway and only 25 minutes from either downtown Athens or Kifissia. Thanks to the Attiki Odos, traffic is rarely a problem in accessing the school.

What about extracurricular activities?

Campion has an outstanding art and drama programme. The musical theatre in particular is of a very high level and the school stages two productions per year. Private tutoring is offered on a wide range of musical instruments and Campion has a school orchestra. A wide range of sporting activities are offered after school, including rugby, soccer, tennis, volleyball and basketball, as well as track and field. Pupils may also participate in debates, forensics and the Model United Nations. Latin and Greek dancing are offered in the Junior School and Greek dancing is offered in the Senior School. The school also has a number of clubs.
