Personal data breaches biggest concern for Internet users

Breach of personal information was the most common complaint received by SafeLine, the Greek hotline for illegal Internet content, in 2014 according to data made public on Monday on the occasion of Safer Internet Day (SID) on Tuesday.

According to the same data, the second most frequent complaint – and up by 10 percentage points compared to 2013 – concerned web pages with illegal content, mostly child pornography.

The third most common complaint among users concerned financial crimes.

SID, now in its 12th year, aims to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially among children.

An interactive seminar about online threats will be held for 400 primary school pupils at the Municipal Theater of Pefki, northern Athens.

Students across the country are expected to table their proposals on dealing with cyberbullying during an event hosted at the European Parliament office in Athens on Friday.
