Midfielder Vassilis Tsartas yesterday was given the go-ahead by EPAE, the professional soccer clubs association, to be released from his contract with AEK and sign with a team of his choice in Greece or abroad. Tsartas, who had demanded 1.2 million euros in back pay from AEK, was awarded 450,000 euros. His teammate, and fellow national team mainstay, Demis Nikolaidis, who also wants to be released from his contract, will present his case Monday.
