Aris thrashes EA Patras in Cup

PAOK, Aris, Lamia and Kifissia advanced to the quarterfinals of the Greek Cup on January 26, with EA Patras the most notable casualty of the day.

Aris thrashed visiting EAP 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-20 in Thessaloniki, as the Patra side traveled to the game with several of its key players clearly suffering from fatigue.

PAOK defeated neighboring Epikouros Polichnis 3-1 away (25-20, 22-25, 25-14, 25-13), surging back from a string of bad results in the league.

Kifissia got the better of Apollon Kalamarias at home, winning 3-1. The visitors recovered from a 25-12 loss in the first set to win the second 25-19, but Kifissia was the better side for the rest of the match, winning the last couple of sets 25-19, 25-22.

Lamia had an impressive visit to Alexandroupoli, dismissing local Ethnikos 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-12).

Panathinaikos, Olympiakos, Iraklis and Panellinios had advanced straight to the quarterfinals without a match.

The draw for the quarterfinals will take place on January 27.
