Iraklis to face off against Aris

The tie between Iraklis and Aris emerged as the most attractive after the draw for the quarterfinals of the Greek Cup on January 27.

The knockout tie between the two Thessaloniki rivals, whose clash last season in the league had delayed the playoffs for weeks due to fan action during their game at Iraklis, will take place on February 16.

On the same date holder Panathinaikos will visit ambitious Lamia, champion Olympiakos will play at Panellinios and Kifissia will host PAOK.

The final will take place at Orestiada, northeastern Greece, on March 19.

Meanwhile, Greece blocker Nikos Smaragdis, who had ended his contract with Panathinaikos and was without a club, agreed to return to Iraklis for the next year and a half.

Smaragdis also had a proposal from Olympiakos, but opted to go back to Iraklis where he had been crowned Greek champion in 2007 and 2008.
