Olympiakos beats namesake away

Olympiakos edged closer to regaining the soccer title after beating Olympiakos Volou 1-0 away on January 30 to stay seven points ahead of champion Panathinaikos.

The Reds had David Fuster to thank for their goal, and will need 24 points from the 10 remaining games to win the Super League crown.

Panathinaikos had two unlikely scorers in Gilberto Silva and Cedric Kante to dismiss visiting Ergotelis 2-0 on January 29.

Rival AEK downed Xanthi 2-0 away through goals by Leonardo and Nikos Liberopoulos, getting within a point from third-placed PAOK, who drew 0-0 at Aris in Thessaloniki on January 30.

Larissa rose off the bottom with an entertaining 2-1 victory over struggling Panserraikos, Panionios and Kavala ended 1-1, while Iraklis and Kerkyra as well as Atromitos and Asteras Tripolis shared goalless draws.

In total there were only 10 goals in eight games, a disappointing figure indeed.
