Marinakis rules out further transfers

Olympiakos will not make any further additions to their roster this winter, club president Vangelis Marinakis suggested on January 13.

In doing so, he put an end to speculation about the acquisition of a midfielder, after the transfer of right-back Yiannis Maniatis from Panionios a week earlier.

?We had a chat with our manager,? said Marinakis. ?Mr Valverde is our beloved coach. He does not want us to spend money. He wins and works hard. Our transfers are over and we are all proceeding together.?

?We have confidence in our players and we will go on to win the league,? he added.

Maniatis has started training with his new club, while striker Costas Mitroglou has transferred from Olympiakos to Panionios.

Bernard Kumordzi will likely stay on at Panionios, following pressure from fans of the Nea Smyrni-based team and despite the initial agreement between the two clubs? presidents.

However, press reports have not ruled out a new Olympiakos move for the Ghanaian midfielder at the end of this month.

Finally, left-back Manolis Moniakis, who was bought this month from second-division OFI, will be given to Kerkyra on a six-month loan.
