Iraklis to replace Ouzounidis with Paraschos

Iraklis confirmed the resignation of coach Marinos Ouzounidis on January 31, with Giorgos Paraschos being the favorite to replace him.

Ouzounidis had quit earlier in the day following the Thessaloniki team’s scoreless draw at home against Kerkyra on January 30 that left it just three points from the relegation zone.

“Iraklis soccer club announces the acceptance of Marinos Ouzounidis’s resignation. The club thanks the manager for his contribution to the team in this difficult period during which he took over and wishes him the best for the rest of his professional career,» the Iraklis statement read.

The Thessaloniki Blues are desperate to secure a new coach ahead of the crucial match against Super League bottom side Panserraikos at Serres on February 5.

Reports suggest that Paraschos, who had stints at Xanthi and Panionios this season, is the favorite to take over at the club which he also managed in the 1997-98 period.

Another candidate is former Asteras Tripolis coach Vangelis Vlachos.

Iraklis’s next opponent, Panserraikos, announced it will have Montenegrin manager Momcilo Vukotic until the end of the season. He has replaced Serbian coach Dragan Kokotovic.
