Reds carry out strike threat
Olympiakos water polo players went ahead with their threat to take strike action in the game against Vouliagmeni on February 5, with the Piraeus club suffering its first loss in the league as it fielded the youth team instead.
Vouliagmeni won 16-3 away at Piraeus and put an end to the Reds’ series of 65 consecutive victories in the Greek league, as well as its run of 101 regular season victories.
Despite the loss, Olympiakos is still at the top of the table, two points ahead of Panathinaikos and three clear of Vouliagmeni and Panionios.
Olympiakos players have been on strike since February 2 as they have been owed money for several months now. They have pledged to continue their strike for the coming weeks, too.
