AEK and PAOK in 0-0 stalemate in first leg of cup semi

AEK was unable to break down PAOK?s resistance in the first leg of their Greek Cup semi-final at the Olympic Stadium on Wednesday despite the fact that the visitors were reduced to nine men in the closing stages.

AEK will be ruing several good chances to score that were missed, including two Papa Bouba Diop headers that hit the bar in either half.

The Yellows also thought they should have had a penalty in injury time when Nikos Liberopoulos went down in the box under a challenger from former AEK defender Bruno Cirillo.

PAOK was also furious with the referee for sending off defender Lino after he picked up a second yellow card in the 75th minute and then giving Vladan Ivic his marching orders three minutes later after the midfielder complained to the match official about a foul on him that went unpunished. This earned the former AEK man a second yellow card as well.

The second leg in two weeks? time is finely balanced and promises to be an exciting encounter.

In the other semifinal Atromitos defeated Olympiakos Volou 2-1 at Peristeri.
