Olympiakos Volou go third as Iraklis beat Aris

Olympiakos Volou moved to third in the Super League with a 3-0 win over bottom side Panserraikos on Saturday, as Iraklis beat Aris in the Thessaloniki derby.

In a dominant display in central Greece, Olympiakos Volou put themselves in command of the game right from the start, taking the lead through on loan Krisztian Nemeth after 15 minutes.

Mario Breska made it 2-0 three minutes before half time and Xavier Tomas rounded of the resounding win with the third five minutes from the final whistle.

The win moves Olympiakos Volou into third place in the Super League with 38 points after 25 games. The defeat for Panserraikos leaves the side from northern Greece with just 17 points and nine points from safety.

At the Kleanthis Vikelidis stadium, Iraklis survived a rocky start that saw Aris hit the post in the 2nd minute with a Sergio Koke shot.

The Yellows dominated the game but Iraklis came alive in the final 10 minutes, forcing a great double save from Michalis Sifakis before Victoras Iakob raced into the box in the 88th minute and rounded the Aris keeper to score the winning goal.

The win means that cash-strapped Iraklis hasleapfrogged Aris in the standings. Iraklis has 32 points and Aris 30, which is just five points above the relegation zone..

In the day?s other game, between Xanthi beat Kerkyra 2-1. Nigerian defender Adefemi Olubayo gave Xanthi the lead on 31 minutes with a long range shot but the home side?s advantage was cancelled out 10 minutes later when Denis Epstein scored a penalty.

There were two red cards and a missed penalty in second half injury time before Spyros Vallas slid in to give all three points to Xanthi with a 2-1 win.

Xanthi joins Iraklis in seventh place while Kerkyra remains on 30 points in 11th.
