Olympiakos starts league with win at PAOK

Cup winner Olympiakos started the new A1 league with an away win at PAOK on October 24, returning from Thessaloniki with a 65-52 result.

The game took place on Monday as Olympiakos had faced Bilbao in Spain on Friday for the Euroleague.

Despite playing behind closed doors, PAOK stunned their visitors by taking a nine-point lead halfway through the second period, as Olympiakos seemed to have not recovered from its 15-point loss in the Basque country three days earlier.

Yet when the Reds got their act together from the 15th minute, PAOK was unable to follow.

Vassilis Spanoulis scored 18 points for Olympiakos with Kyle Hines adding another 16.

On October 27 Olympiakos hosts Fenerbahce Ulker for the second round of games of the Euroleague.
