Katsouranis saves the day for PAO

Costas Katsouranis spared Panathinaikos the embarrassment that a home draw against bottom club Doxa Dramas would entail on Wednesday as his goal two minutes from time gave the Greens a win that keeps it on course for the top of the Super League table.

The Greens produced yet another below-par performance, in line with their other matches so far this year, but once again maintained a clean sheet and managed to rustle up a goal, capitalizing on the huge pressure they applied late in the second half. They are now within a point of leader Olympiakos and have a game in hand.

The game was postponed from the fourth round of the championship, along with that between Levadiakos and Aris, which ended in a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

Yiannis Yianniotas gave Aris the lead in the 34th minute but Lucas Favalli equalized for the home side early in the second half in one of the many chances that the Livadia team created in the game.

Aris is now joint ninth in the league, along with Panionios, while Levadiakos is second to last.
