Kolossos, Panionios close in on a top-four finish
While leaders Panathinaikos and Olympiakos continued with victories, Kolossos Rhodes and Panionios confirmed that they are the most credible contenders for spots in the top four of the league with significant away wins over the weekend.
Panathinaikos saw off Ikaros Kallitheas 95-66 away and Olympiakos beat AGO Rethymnou 97-82 at home as the two Euroleague contenders remain tied at the top of the table. That was despite the 41 points Dionte Christmas scored for AGOR.
Third-placed Kolossos scraped through KAO Dramas with an 83-82 score to stay two points behind Panathinaikos and Olympiakos.
Panionios, one point behind Kolossos, came from 15 points down to beat Aris 69-63 in Thessaloniki, largely thanks to a great second-half performance by Marios Batis and Billy Keys.
In other weekend games, host Kavala thrashed bottom club Maroussi 89-69 to move up to fifth, and Ilisiakos saw off visiting PAOK 75-69 to all but renew its A1 status for one more year.
